Marginal Unit Website Redesign
A website redesign for a Texas-based power trading software startup
Role & Responsibilities
Brand Design, Front-End Development
Marginal Unit's software suite enables power market traders to monitor regional power grids and make better investment decisions.
The company wanted to refresh their website to both attract new employees and to stand out from competitors who often have websites that are copy-heavy and use pre-designed templates.
- I worked closely with the CEO to nail down some principles and aspirations for the website, which I translated into a Figma style guide that covers colors, illustrations, and typography.
- Using Affinity Designer, I assembled and customized isometric illustrations that convey the idea of Marginal Unit's software being a type of CPU for power market trading and monitoring.
- I built and delivered the final website using HTML and a stripped-down version of Bootstrap 4. The site's Lighthouse scores are good, given that multiple third-party scripts are present and the site is not using SSL or compression techniques.
The Marginal Unit team is proud of their new website, which launched just before a major industry conference.
