I really loved the first book in this series. The sheer number of pages for this second volume in the Stormlight Archive series from Brandon Sanderson clocks in at over 1,300 pages 😰 This book has accompanied me on several plane flights over the past year and I’m about a third of the way through it.
This book promises to reveal truths about building and maintaining “flow states…the feeling of complete engagement in a creative or playful activity.” I discovered this book via a Twitter recommendation last year.
As a teenager, I volunteered at our city’s only nursing home, talking to residents, doing puzzles with them, and bringing them coffee. I had no idea that roughly a decade later, three family members that I am very close to would simultaneously start to experience significant symptoms of Alzheimer’s and Dementia. I pre-ordered this book as soon as I saw it on Bookshop.org, and it’s been sitting unread on my shelf for a few months. I’m honestly dreading reading this, but my hope is that something in it will unlock a sense of healing for myself, and maybe some advice or insight on how to better support my family.
